yin and yang. sorrow and horror/community and compassion. kindness generosity beyond whats expected.NO POLITICS NO RELIGIOUS DIFFERENCES.just people helping each other get through one more day.kinda like a thru hike.

hey where did all the pohos go?
man that show last night was good.it inspired post#5000.community. the show emphasized how our communities have come together to take care of our own. how communities unaffected by the storm reached out and brought needed food clothing and supplies. how utility workers from Alabama came up to return the favor when nyers helped out their own communities after Katrina.
yin and yang. sorrow and horror/community and compassion. kindness generosity beyond whats expected.NO POLITICS NO RELIGIOUS DIFFERENCES.just people helping each other get through one more day.kinda like a thru hike.
i love this community. i just hope it spreads.

HB I am going to guess where U are coming from, the show was inspiring and wonderful, I too got to see some serious younger favorites and I hope you do not see this as an argument. Katrina and Sandy clearly are not the same thing. The compassion is there for you, and others, and well it' is different. But just a ear-worm - the millions that were donated last night help NY. What about NJ to the Carolina or north? - this was a big storm and NJ most likely will not get any of last night's proceeds. Doesn't matter there is no right answer. I hope it spreads to the people that need it.

do you really think springsteen and bon jovi would have performed if none of the money were going to NJ?
not sure how you interpreted last nights show. but it would seem you missed an essential element.

Last night was a step back into the past. What some of us may consider better days. If only for a brief moment it let us forget the present and remember a time in our lives when we had no worries. It let us be comfortable. Comfortably Numb.

Serious - HB I just found this "out" I have heard from several radio and TV sources that the folks at the moment are donating thru the the non profit org. "just" to NY not NJ. This is a discussion.

This is not a rumor - at the moment this is as close to unfounded.

the robin hood foundation is indeed ny area -based,but the proceeds are to benefit sandy victims in the tri state area, not just ny, where the biggest concentration of destruction was felt.
in any event, anything that can help raise awareness should hopefully filter down to the other "fringe states" peoples in need.
daltrey though looked a bit like my mom.i was trying to figure out if his hair was blue or if it was just the lights

1973......Eric Clapton at Yale Bowl, New Haven.........the rumor was that George harrison was going to drop by.....someone famos did, but I wasn't 'hip' to the rock scene yet so who it was escapes me. Mid way thru there was a fight in the front row, Eric jumps down to break it up......his roadies grab him by the shirt and yank him back up on stage. I had not met Pepe yet.:D But I then became a Tull head. I have seen Jethro Tull Maybe 30 times since 'War Child'.

Alright. No laughing. Mine was in 1968. Detroit, MI. Michigan State Fair. Diana Ross and the Supremes. Headlined by the Temptations. The Supremes wore dresses that were valued at $30,000. 10 grand a piece. It was the talk of the town. (LOL)

My buddies dad was VP of a big local radio station. He would come home after school and in the Fruit bowl would be tickets to what ever the radio station was sponsoring. One night we went go see Sabbath, this guy Ted Nugent warmed them up, no one knew him. He had the building shaking. Sabbath comes out...............brought everyone right down.......they were getting booed, 3 songs...we left.

One of my best friends was promotional photographer for Country K radio station in WPB, FL. He used to get me tickets to all the shows and even some back stage passes. I got a pick somewhere of me with at the time, Nashvilles #1 party girl Tanya Tucker on my lap. I'm gonna let it go at that.

That's cool. I saw them in 1973 at the WPB, FL Auditorium. Never partied with em'. I think tickets for that concert were $3.25. We were pissed. They went up .25 cents from the CCR concert we just saw a couple of weeks ago. (LOL)

Saw Tull at the South Florida Fair Grounds. Get this, with Jackson Brown and Deep Purple. Concert got over at 1:00am. Got out of the parking lot at 5:45am. Total distance couldn't have been 300 yrds. It was back when you parked where ever you parked and that was it. It was a total mess but we didn't give a poop.

Not my first but best by a long shot. When I lived on Nantucket on of my clients was a good friend of Jimmy Buffet. Bugged him for years for an intro. Finally one night I walk into the Cafe (not this one) & wave hi to Joe. He waves back & points to guy next to him & waves me over. Go introduced to Jimmy & from there we went to a local nightclub where one of Joe's former cocktail waitresses was playing with her band. After a few drinks Jimmy said he'd be back in a few. Jumped on stage, gave a kiss to Mary Beth & asked if he could jam with them. Mid week, un-announced & he didn't do any of his own songs. Just jammed with local band!

You guys make me sick!!
Just how many "big" names do you think come to Perth?
Officially the remotest capital (state capital) city in the world.
I've never been a fan of concerts but I saw the Beegees and Johnny Cash (not together) in 1974.
Can't say I can remember going to many others since.
Daniel and his older brother saw Michael Jackson about 15 years ago I think.

Just found time to look at some of your recent pics HB.
Some nice shots.
It all looks a bit eerie to me though as I have only known evergreen forests so masses of trees without leaves all looks very dead to me.
Often beautiful but still dead.:p
I take it those were wild turkeys crossing the road in the Harriman shots??

Well OzJacko I've lived in cities and around huge concerts all my life and you have seen more than me. I saw Frampton in 1975 but that was because a friends 15 YO daughter wanted to go and her mother wouldn't let her go alone. Oh yes, I was in Poughkeepsie NY in July of 1969 but I was in school and only heard about this big shindig in Woodstock. Does that count?

Well I was a little young for Woodstock anyway....:p
Just my little rant as obviously "everyone" does a gig in NY.;)
I never had an 8 track player but my oldest brother did.
I mostly grew up in a country town so you got used to not going to things like concerts.
I had a year at university in 1974 - went to BeeGees concert (pre disco krapp) because I loved their music then.
Went to Cash concert with my sister as her husband couldn't make it at last minute. Started a strong liking for all his stuff as well.
Wouldn't trade my early years for any concerts really.
