True story -
Years ago, the hubby and I took both our moms-in-law to Wilmington for a weekend. We toured the battleship with them. (They liked the kitchen too). When we went down below decks to the sleeping quarters, his mom, who was a very sweet, proper lady got all indignant and pointed to the sign that said Berthing Room. She read it as "birthing" and somehow got the idea that women must have been allowed on ship and that was the maternity ward. No kidding!

My long time hiking partner recently had to do some work in that area. Early on our backpacking trips I did the Eiger Sanction Move to him & snuck beer into his pack. We stoped for a break at an abondoned fire tower both drenched with sweat. I asked if he wanted a beer...He said seeing the NF of the Eiger just reminded him of it & he still is pissed at me.

Nope. No lurking... In fact, I just got back to WB (meant to check in last night) a few minutes ago. Between work and baking and shopping and wrapping and waiting in line at the post office, I haven't even had time to take the dogs on a proper walk. Now that I do have a few minutes, the wind has really kicked up and it is raining puppies and kittens out there. Rain doesn't stop our walks, but the wind sure will. That Sandy downed a lot of trees, leaving other trees unprotected. I don't think I want to spend the holidays squished.

Too much water (aka hydration) slows down the pickling process... Give it a little time, and many margs. That should do the trick. If that does not work, or takes too long - Bring out the Muscadine!

the elf is interested too but i think he was thinking sat sun mon.we'll figure it out.single digits id have to think about though.ive got a 15 deg bag, i can squeeze out another 5 or so but i dont feel like investing another $400 in another bag. i dont really enjoy it too much when it gets that cold.teens im fine with. colder than that i start thinking about places id rather be.

I do have to admit I admire Chris McCandless for living life the way he chose, for not being scared to follow his dreams. I don't necessarily agree with all the choices he made, but they were his to make. I think he lived...in his short years...more than many people live during 80+ years of life. Maybe a case of quality vs quantity for him? Not saying he would have chosen to die that way... Maybe he just had no regrets for living life the way he chose?

he was a selfish spoiled idealistic rich kid that ended up regretting his withdrawal from "civilization" and tried to return. then the baked guinea pig. he was woefully unprepared and i dont believe he went out with any thought of returning.we talked about it on another thread. we all kind of relate to that kind of peter pan chuck all the materialistic crap live off the land and set our souls free.
