Tipi is against the Cafe? People will give various reasons why the thread was dumped with keywords like "trolling" or "baiting" used to justify their attempts to end a discussion. We had a recent neato discussion on burning trash in firepits which was interesting and in no way offensive and actually had some substance but of course it was Frozen to Death when someone decided it lacked merit. And yet the Hikerboys cyber cafe has over 12,000 replies and is allowed to live and go on and on and on for some unknown reason. Welcome to the world of Wacky Whiteblaze.

After our last trip to Montana, she said...."Louis, I'm not $h!tting in the woods anymore!" We started to talk about and go look at Motorhomes, then we went to the USVI and bought the timeshare. 2 years later she was guzzleing the Patron.

Mine will do day hikes with about 7 - 8 miles max. She loves to see stuff, waterfalls, overlooks, etc. just doesn't want to sleep in a tent. She says there's boogers out there and that's no lie. Those are her exact words. I did get her to spend 3 night one time in my 3 man with a coleman queen size mattress and 2 6lb sleeping bags. But that was at Alaruck in a modern campground. Another thing I will say for her is that there ain't a trailhead on the Pinhoti she can't find and can get to any of them in under 2 hours.

My friend from Ohio, has a Cottage on Cape Cod. It is very small, but has alarge deck. Overloads kids stay in the 2 rooms and we put up one of our strong tents on the deck, queen size air mattress...all week.....she loves it. I'm sure if we had the time and money she'd walk the trail with me, all the way.

Sounds good Oz, and no matter how crowded Trail Days gets I have us a place to stay just outside of town headed towards Mountain City with a nice hot shower house.

I was considering an RV to give us some "comfort" in the crowd.

My wife had a paper route for about 4 years. I would help her out maybe 10 days per year. She delivered in the middle of at least 3 Hurricanes. I liked it every once in a while. Trying to throw a monday paper always sucked because the paper is so light.

im going up to do a loop of the at and the mohawk trail in ct with elf and lazarus, coach lou. 36 mi round trip in 2 and a half days. its a cool looking loop with plenty of bail out points should weather dictate an early exit

nice - - i section hiked CT in 2011 - - Driver 8 gave me a shuttle - - remember passing the mohawk trail (near a high school and RR tracks in some town, right?) - I think the original AT corridor - - and when I thru-hiked followed the Mohawk Trail. My section there involved a LOT of post-holing in deeper than expected snow. Too far for me to go next week but have fun!

right now, you have the winning suggestion - - we just talked on the phone about it about 5 o'clock today - - want to go?

Fontana Dam Trail Head
AT to Silers Bald Shelter – 27.8 Miles
AT to Mount Collins to Fork Ridge Trail to Deep Creek Trailto BMT Campsite 64 – 25.5 Miles
BMT to Campsite 81 – 24.3 Miles
BMT to Lakeshore Trail to Fontana Dam – 13.8 Miles
Total 91.4 Miles

since we don't have to shuttle, we might evening / night hike about 12 miles to Mollies Ridge on the 9th for a jump start - - we can do 12 in 4 - 5 hours (4pm-9pm or so)

They usually take one look at me and send me home. I have been called 6 to 7 times and only picked once. For some reason I get called to Jury duty every two years betweeen County and Federal. Only served once for a civil case against Walmart. All I can say is Walmart sucks. Fighting their responsibilty when a basketball backboard falls down because the base wasn't filled or tied to something. The injured was just walking in the store and got hit in the head. The jury deliberated for about 10 minutes.

Just poked my head in to tell Train Wreck - I owe ya pics and a description of my hike in September (Seriously...Was it really only in September???? Seems like so much longer ago than that...). Didn't mean to duck out the other day. Some (not so) fun stuff came up at work and I had to put the fires out.

Will be back on by later to catch up on the...good grief! how many?!...pages I need to catch up on since I was last year and tell Train Wreck where I hiked. Will try for pics, but am not sure that will happen today.

New Year Day's black-eyed peas are turning into soup today. It wont be as good as the 3B's (Budweiser, baked beans, and boiled eggs) but it should still be a rootin' - tootin' good time later on.

I'll just go hang out in the back with Pepe once the festivities commence.
