I have a solution for you. Cyrogenics.
Freeze your kids. Go on your hike.
Thaw them out when you have enough money for braces, car repairs, and college.

Maybe leave the least favourite in deep freeze a little longer.

I shouldn't tell this story, but, I'll start be saying you couldn't find a better mother than my wife, but, our youngest son was being a real jerk running around in a clothing store and she grabbed him by the arm and tried to "straighten" him out. My wife heard two ladies standing nearby say something like, "parents like that shouldn't have children", she shoved him towards them and said, "you want him, you take him", the look on thier faces....priceless.

Drybones,
Awesome story! Thanks for sharing.

My first car was a 1966 Chevy Corvair. It could keep up with the trucks in the swamp. It had a solid bottom and floated. It could even float across some canals the big trucks wouldn't touch. I'd just get a running start, hit the water and glide across. You could see the water churn from the tires while I was gassing it. I'd get to the other side and it bite good ground and climb right out. We won a lot of money bettin' on that car.

That is awesome! Real shame with Ralph Nader and his "unsafe at any speed". Love the scene with Paul Allen and Bill Gates in Pirates of Silicon Valley where Allen is looking at his Corvair after Gates wrecks it in the Bulldozer race.

I got sandwiched between 2 cars at a red light. The car in front and I was stopped and the car that hit us from behind was running 45 and slammed us. I was scrunched like an accordian. We got rid of the front hood which was the trunk and turned it into the suicide seat. We cut the roof off with a blow torch and made it a redneck convertible. We'd put someone in that suicide seat and drive like hell off road in the woods. They'd almost bounce out. It's a wonder nobody died.

Australian Gun Law Update

Here's a thought to warm some of your hearts....
From: Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia

... Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real
figures from Down Under.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to
surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own
government, a program costing Australia taxpayers
more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent,
Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria.....
I think that data is close to 10 years old though....
Might be accurate but lies damn lies statistics etc....

My first car was a 67 Ford Galaxy 500 with a 390 ci 4 barrel. Loved that car. Had a couch for a front seat, too. Faster than a scalded dog.
My first car was a 1964 Ford Cortina 440 (British Ford).
My second car (and 3rd, 4th and 5th) was (were) what you knew as Datsun P510.
Sold as Datsun 1600 here.
Not quick in a straight line but awesome on gravel roads.

Dam!!......

I won't allow anyone else at work to wear silly chef clothing. It's just not dignified! The chef coat is an important piece of safety gear for grease burns. In the last 25 years of cooking I have almost everything from my feet to my eyeball. It's amazing how quickly your eye heals when splattered with 450 oil from searing Lamb shanks (Ankles). The foot burn was accidentally sticking my foot under a drain pipe for a steam jacket kettle. The water just went from being pressurized steam to water as it travels down the pipe. The burns that hurt the most are 3 degrees on the fingers when touching metal that is well over 800 degrees. The burn doesn't blister, it just turns hard and grey.

Cut are another fun thing but part of the business. I was accidentally stabbed in the ass with a filet knife and have cut my left hand too many times to count.

Hair net at least?

Nope! Only about 1/2" of hair. Hats and hair nets do nothing except cover 50% of your head! The uncovered portion would never shed a hair?

Ow, that hurt just to read about it :(

Those hats wen't out of style when I was around 3 or 4 years old! Those hats were never designed to be floppy either. The French chefs heavily starched the pleated hats to stand up like a stove pipe.

See there are advantages of not being the tallest guy around. Being only 5'8" I rememember talking to a 6'7" friend in college about how great it would be to be his height. He said you think about that next time you get on a bus or an airplane. He had a good point.

You're right it has advantages and disadvantages. I'm 6'6" and my wife is 5'3". If there's something I don't want her to eat I put it way up high in the cupboard. Vise-versa, if there's something she doesn't want me to get she puts it way down low knowing I ain't gonna stoop down to get it. If there's something she really wants she says hey come get this down, you got it in the attic.

About them spider webs, it doesn't matter most are up higher and we catch them in the face anyway as everybody else just walks right under.
you gots a right smaht wife, you do.

I think that a $10 annual donation is the minimum that is considered acceptable. We encourage the cafe patrons to donate more in order to pay for all the extra bandwidth.
