It looks really cool! max patch 09-28-2006, 09:58 I just read in The Register that the ATC has rec'd over $40,000 from the sale of the NC AT tags. A big thanks to Clark Wright for his efforts. Hog On Ice 09-28-2006, 10:09 link to ATC notes about the NC AT tags : http://www.appalachiantrail.org/site/c.jkLXJ8MQKtH/b.854255/k.7268/NC_Friends_of_the_AT_Plates.htm D'Artagnan 09-28-2006, 12:20 I've had mine a little over a year now and you'd be amazed at the number of conversations having it on the car has started. It's a good way to make people aware of the AT and in turn, support it financially. Plus, it looks really cool! :D Alligator 09-28-2006, 12:55 If you don't live in NC, you can get one of these. http://www.atctrailstore.org/catalog/itemlist.cfm?catid=134&compid=1&pcatid=52 twosticks 09-28-2006, 15:19 Cool, but not as cool as the real thing. Why i think every state along the trail should offer one. Sly 09-28-2006, 15:48 Cool, but not as cool as the real thing. Why i think every state along the trail should offer one. It takes quite a bit of work. Clark was looking for a way to help support the trail in NC on the at-l and actually followed through on my suggestion. He enlisted the help State Senator Sam Queen who has "0001 AT", proposed it to the state legislature and 300 individuals needed to pre-apply for the plate before they'd make them. The ATC was notified along with local trail clubs among others. Now there's well over 2000 and $20 from each plate ($58 total) goes mostly to trail maintenance in the state each year. Although other states usually have similar plates, guidelines are different. COOPDOG 09-29-2006, 08:59 I've had mine for a year now and have to renew. Didn't get numbers though. :) May even attach it to my pack when I thru next year. Just kidding you ultralighters. Almost There 09-29-2006, 09:20 Supposedly, plans are in the works to get the plates going in Tennessee and Georgia. peanuts 09-29-2006, 09:22 Almost There, for real??? That would be sooo nice..... TwoForty 09-29-2006, 23:39 Supposedly, plans are in the works to get the plates going in Tennessee and Georgia. I'll totally buy one. Nean 09-29-2006, 23:54 I have mine and love it, though it's about to expire.:( Always thought it would be neat to have # 2170 or thereabouts.:D No numbers COOPDOG? Please explain. They use letters now? Could be the only plate in the union that has 3 state names printed on it.:) Sly 09-30-2006, 04:10 No numbers COOPDOG? Please explain. They use letters now? You could have requested NEAN but it would have cost another $20 or so. Could be the only plate in the union that has 3 state names printed on it.:) If GA and TN adopted the same design.... Hog On Ice 09-30-2006, 06:52 I wonder if the GA design would read "Georgia to Maine" Just Jeff 09-30-2006, 09:49 If GA and TN adopted the same design.... I think he meant the "Maine to Georgia" and the "North Carolina". Nean 09-30-2006, 10:17 I think he meant the "Maine to Georgia" and the "North Carolina". Correct you are Jeff. ;) I knew "Nean" was an option, though I thought it was for more than 20 per year. COOPDOG didn't mention that and so I wondered.:o Sly 09-30-2006, 15:40 I think he meant the "Maine to Georgia" and the "North Carolina". Yeah, now I get it. At 5:10 in the morining I wasn't so sure. Hey I didn't know if you got the tag the ATC gives you a membership. The last couple years I kept on forgetting to re-up with the ATC but I've have kept the tag. So I guess I've been a member all along. Wonder why I have received the new mag? http://www.appalachiantrail.org/atf/cf/%7BD25B4747-42A3-4302-8D48-EF35C0B0D9F1%7D/LicenseTagApplication.pdf And Nean, it appears it's $30 on top of the extra $30 to get a personalized tag. When I got my AT tag last year, I was never told anything about an ATC membership and never received the magazine or anything else. Was I supposed to fill out a form or something? Sly 10-02-2006, 08:36 When I got my AT tag last year, I was never told anything about an ATC membership and never received the magazine or anything else. Was I supposed to fill out a form or something? Although it doesn't necessarily say so on the link, I guess we were supposed to go through the ATC.
