It is a pyramid style, floorless, silnylon tarp tent that is so large you can sleep 2 in luxurious style with all gear stored inside with you. You could sleep three with all gear as well. Its big. Plus, at seven feet high, you can even stand up in it in the area near where the center pole is. If you have an overhanging tree you can eliminate the centerpole and dangle it from above, giving even more room. Its great to unzip the bag in the morning and have an unlimited amount of room in which to get up, sit up in comfort, dress, stand up and then WALK, NOT CRAWL out of the tent.
Its for those trips when there are two of you and you still want to go light. Its heavier than their extremely popular, one person, silshelter, weighing: George tarp- 22 oz., optional nmosquito net door at 4 oz, plus 12 stakes and parachute cord total slightly less than 2 1/2 pounds.
It was a little difficult to erect at first but I finally got the hang of it and days later was getting it up quickly even in the rain. It does not come with a center pole. You must dangle it from a tree limb from above or, what I did, use two hiking poles, cursed things. You can reverse the poles, lay them beside each other to seven feet and tie them together in a couple of places with parachute cord. It works well.
I opted for the optional mosquito net door which I zipped in and kept it in. When set up it receives incoming ventilation from underneath all the perimeter and it exits out the very large mosquito net door. It has zippers for your entrance/exit. Also, two sleep along each side and its so large inside that only small droplets of rain work its way through the netting ond onto the ground in front of you but you sleep to the side, completely covered.
The drawback is the lack of centerpole but then you dont have to carry it either. It could also use a couple of tie-offs in the rear, higher up to extend the tent sides, making it a little tighter. Its a minor complaint because all in all its an awesome, inexpensive shelter for two or more people.
