I was just curious about who doesn't even bring a sleeping bag on their thru-hike. I am not planning to bring one. I spent over 20 years in the US Army Rangers and I have only used a bag in basic training way back in 1976 at Fort Leonard Wood. Since then I have use a poncho liner to wrap myself in. Being in a light combat engineer unit most of my military career and always on the go, we had to pack up and move on a second's notice. We never had time to get all comfy and toasty in a bag.
