  1. A night in Franklin

Feeling 100% recovered from whatever hit me last week. It was good to get back on the trail and just started with a couple short 6-7 mile hikes to test the body. Since then it's been back to steady 12+ miles and not feeling bad at all. A few milestones along the way since last post. Of course I have finally crossed the N.C. border. Hit the 100 mile mark at the fire tower on Albert Mountain. That was definitly a different climb, very steep and at times more like rock climbing. It wasn't too long ...

1- Get your physical and talk to your doctor ... and a Sports Medicine Doctor like I have will do what he must to keep me active ... IE ... Steroid/Novocaine shots in my knees ... After I hike this 'half-a-Thru' he's talking about a referral to an Orthopedist and getting shots that will replace the meniscus missing in my knees. I have arthritis in my knees

  4. quick update on some major challenges

Hi all. More of a quick shout out then a full update. Tomorrow marks one month on the trail for me.

That was alleviated through becoming part of a group. Added to that was the high altitude which really effected me and limited my ability to recover from each days hiking.

The cold and most of the high altitude behind me the ...

  5. Made it to The NOC!

Every hill seems steeper and higher than the last and my body is asking me "what have I done to deserve this?"
The descent into NOC was hard on the knees but fast. Gonna hole up in the hostel tonight and rest for the biggest climb yet, out of the NOC and into Fontana. I SHOULD have had my Fontana mail drop sent here because the resupply is bad and getting into Brison City is dicey.
I keep hearing horror stories of a virus running amoke up the trail. Can only hope I can avoid ...
