Well Andy and I are 8 days from starting, with still lots to do. We had a warm up hike at Devils Lake State park last week. All went well and we tested are new and old equipment. I am setting this blog up with hopes to post at least once a week while on the trail to keep all my friends and family updated on our progress. We head to my aunts in Connecticut Wednesday the 15th and will be on the trail the morning of the 18th. Were planning to make one last trip to REI and get some last minute ...

I begin the process of fulfilling the commitment I made to get re-fit by 2013 for another expedition. Much has changed; gear, technology, communications, etc. Even the Trail, to be sure. There's a lot to think about, reflect on, and evaluate, and what better way to spend the time during such ruminations than simply beginning to walk and regain the feeling of being in my body. Lots of local trail here to stretch out on, and it's time to begin!

Hey everyone. I am off next week on my first AT section hike. I was figuring on the smokey mountain park (roughly 77 miles) in about 8-10 days. I will be solo. Any suggestions???
