  1. Another winter storm

    Clay and I have made our way to a nice hiker hostel in Greeneville, TN. This is the first time either of us have stayed in a hostel, but I'm thinking it's more of a shock for me. Being the only girl in a small cabin with 5 guys is certainly interesting (it's what I imagine frat houses are like). I never thought a room could smell so bad! But it is heated, has lights, a microwave, a fridge, and comfortable bunks, so I'll take it!

  2. Hot Springs

    We a are staying the night in Hot Springs and wondering if we should head out into the winter storm or not. Hoping tomorrow will bring some answers. So far it's been a great trip. Ready to move on down the trail.

  3. Treking Soon

    Leaving SOBO, on the 13th of April, from upper goose pond cabin near rte. 20, Lee, Ma.
    Plan for an all spring/summer hike to GA. Been top of Katadin and most of Maine last year, surgery knocked me off the path till now. White's and Vermont as soon as possible. Blessings to all, Nu-DeKnee

  4. Less than 2000 Miles left to go!

    Less than 2000 miles left- 1989.9 to be exact! Today did 13.5 m from Spence Field to Double Spring Shelter. Since the Smokies are a National park it is tightly regulated and everyone has to stay in shelters. The shelters are 3 sided stone structures with a fireplace inside LUXURY! The group of young folks I have been hiking with have fire going already. Had fun hiking w the 'kids' made it light and enjoyable with lots of laughs.   5. Leaving from Hot Springs, NC

    Clays mom and aunt drove us up to Hot Springs Wednesday night and we have been staying at the Laughing Heart B&B, which also owns the hostel. Thursday we spent time soaking in the natural hot springs and getting to know the community a little better. We were invited to a free community dinner in town by the people who run the B&B and the hostel. We were told that every week the people of Hot Springs gets together for a potluck dinner. The goal of these dinners is to get to know each other ...
