well i just joined the site and got setup today. I will briefly sum up about me by saying i like to backpack and cycle. i have spent some time on the AT in TN and NC. I plan to do a thru hike after my daughters are out of college ( sooo long to wait), but get out to the trails when i can. I live in IN and hike the knobstone trail regularly( 43miles). I enjoy the state parks close by for dayhikes and the occasional bike tour. My job sends me all over the country and have had the opportunity to hike ...

I got a real late start today because I over slept later than I have on this whole trip. I slept until 9 this morning. I did not get started hiking until 11. This meant a short day of hiking.

We drove to Harpers Ferry today to pick up mail drops. Mostly to get my laptop computer that was in the mail drop. I will be going to Louisville, KY with Hopper for two days while she attends an unexpected funeral; I decided to get my laptop so I would have something to do in the motel while she is doing stuff with her family. That way I will not be bored to death.

The weather was fantastic for hiking today. I left Partnership Shelter at 8 this morning. I did not see another hiker all morning except one person heading southbound.

I stopped at Chatfield Shelter around 11 for a snack. After leaving the shelter I saw many different specimens of mushrooms along the trail and took many pictures of them.

We traveled from New Orleans to backpack the A.T. for two days. Our group consisted of my son and four of his friends and myself. We started our trek from on Kephart Prong Trail with a brief stop at Kephart shelter. We hiked the the Grassy Branch Trail to Dry Sluice Gap and the A.T. for a brief stop at Charlies Bunion.
