  1. Asheville AT Bonanza

    Greetings ya'll.
Hikers and trail enthusiast in Asheville are getting together once a month to socialize and stay connected. Very informal, and fun. For the month of February, we will meet on the 16th, from 6 -8pm at the Mellow Mushroom http://www.mellowmushroom.com/ashevi...ndex/asheville . RSVP is not necessary, but helpful in assuring that the table is large enough. Give a shout if you want to be added to the email list.

  2. Cold & Rainy Make for a Good Day to Walk

Yesterday marked the first day in awhile I didn't get out and walk -- just too much work that had to get done before the week finished.

This morning, though, is cold, foggy, and rainy, which makes it a good day to get out there and test some of my clothes.

Well, as soon as I finish my coffee. And the dog gets off my lap.

I found a handful of videos on YouTube.com this evening and watched those. The best so far has been this one:

  4. Endings and Beginnings

After much agonizing, I finally decided to leave my trusty REI Half Dome (purchased in 2000 for a climb up Kilimanjaro) at home and go with something new. The Half Dome has served me well on Kili and all over Texas (Big Bend, the Big Thicket, Dinosaur Valley State Park, South Padre, Caprock Canyons, Palo Duro Canyon, Guadelupe National Mountains, etc. -- you name it) and I could set it up half asleep, in the wind, in the rain, in the dark, and on occasion under all four conditions at once on the ...
