Win preparation for my AT hike I went for a 100 mile hike. Except it was only 90!! Haha. I wanted to be out for a couple days so that I could get used to my gear and the pains my body would go through. On one of my last days out there I noted a few observations.

1. Glasses will get scratched lenses. Go cheap.
2. Carry a little cash.
3. You can always smell worse!!
4. Nothing is water proof.
5. Cam shoes would be wonderful.
6. I eat less than I thought.. Easily changeable I am sure.
7. My hatred for sunscreen is not fair to sunscreen!!
8. Blisters can have blisters.
9. Hitch hiking takes time. Be patient.
10. My feet a ok at 10 miles, ask me to stop at 15 miles, and tell me to stop at 20 miles.
11. I used everything in my bag, but never needed anything else.
12. I like using a bandana more than a hat and a hat. More than a bandana... Depressing!!
13. My heels hurt more than the rest of my feet.
14. The outsides of my hips get sore.
15. It will rain even when everything says the contrary.

Much more was discovered as well. My drive to continue hiking everyday was one such discovery. Another was my familiarity with my equipment. It was a good hike overall. In the end I understood my motivations a little better.
