Here it is, almost 3 and I'm lying awake having finally finished packing the last little details. We depart for Boone, NC tomorrow at noon after church. After my dad (no trail name just yet...) and I drop off my brother at his lax camp there, we will motor westward about an hour to the Appalachian Ridge, sight-see, dine, then take a hotel. Hal (without a trail name also) will meet us sometime between the hotel and shuttle to the trail head. I'm excited he's decided to join us! I haven't spent much time with him since new years' I'm sad to say. What a reunion! It'll be the first time for each of us hiking the AT. We plan to do 19 miles but I'm thinking we will definitely get done early if we hike all the way through with minimal stops. I'm hoping for a swimming hole and chance to use the gopro underwater! I'm so pumped to use that thingthis is going to be a very exciting trip. Dad, Hal, and me. Good group.
I'm bringing little colored origami stars I made as gifts for people I meet along the trail. Maybe our paths will cross and you shall get one.
