I am a Cancer Survivor and have the standard age challenges: aches/pain, move slower, etc.,etc.
I have however, been hiking the AT off/on since the early 80”s,so I do have some experience.
I wonder what tips/info folks have that completed a Thru, who were at least 60 or older at the time?
Hi Over 60. I am planning on hiking the AT in 2013. I am 71 and will celebrate 72 on the Trail. How did you find a partner to hike with. I have promised not to do this without one, due to anxiety of my kids. I swim a mile and currently walk 5. Do this every other day. 3 years ago broke and ankle and had class 3 sprain on the other. A year ago had cartiledge repaired in knee. Visit relatives in Appalachian Mountains and hike there when I visit just to see if the body parts can take it. Did okay. Will be up to 20 miles per day before I start. Looking forward to the challenge, but having a hard time finding someone with the time and energy to tackle the job of hiking the AT. So again, where did you manage to pick up your partner?
