AT Radio speaks with the creators of the film "Tell it on the Mountain - Tales from the Pacific Crest Trail", Lisa Diener and Shaun Carrigan. "Tell it on the Mountain - Tales from the Pacific Crest Trail" is a new documentary film that follows half a dozen of the 300 or so hikers who attempt the Pacific Crest Trail every year. While much of the film was shot by professionals, the producers gave cameras to individual hikers, which help provide an intimate look into their experience. They share with us the what went into making the film as well as why they chose to structure it as they did. Just a quick note that I have entered the modern age and made my book about how I learned how to hike a medium distance available on the Kindle set of platforms. I have slightly modified the 2005 text with several notes to bring it up-to-date as of 2013. I also added a photo to each chapter.

One of the things I'm most looking forward to about visiting the AT is the natural history. I'd like to understand as well as I can how the mountains came to be formed, the flora and fauna that live there, anything at all (even academic papers) about the weather systems, mountains, rivers, etc., that is there. Bill Bryson's book explains a fair bit about these things, but if anybody knows of anything else, please mention it.
