<div>One of the things I'm most looking forward to about visiting the AT is the natural history. I'd like to understand as well as I can how the mountains came to be formed, the flora and fauna that live there, anything at all (even academic papers) about the weather systems, mountains, rivers, etc., that is there. Bill Bryson's book explains a fair bit about these things, but if anybody knows of anything else, please mention it.</div>
