Fry left his home around 9 p.m. on Sunday and said he was going for a walk on the Appalachian Trail.
May have mental heath issues per the news report.
He is a white male, who is 5'9" tall and weighs 170 pounds. He has black hair and green eyes.

Vehicle vandalism and theft reported at AT trailheads in Tennessee



Unfortunately, two incidents have been reported this past month. First, the Forest Service has reported that there have been a

number of vehicle vandalisms along US Highway 421 at the AT Trailhead at the Sullivan/Johnson County border on Holston Mountain.

At least one vehicle at the AT trailhead has had a window broken out during daylight hours. Recommendation is to not leave any

vehicles here until this issue is resolved by local law enforcement. Second, hikers on Roan Mountain reported that a thief broke into their car by smashing a window and prying open the glove compartment. The thief stole purses, wallets, a cell phone and other items stored in the glove compartment from their vehicle parked at Carvers Gap on Tenn. Highway 143.

Apparently a thru hiker has been killed in Abingdon and we are trying to track down his belongings. His trail name was Biscuit. We are looking for his belongings. Does anyone here know him?

I was out trail running today. I ran from Elk Garden up to Briar Ridge. I noticed someone had written on the privy door at Elk Garden and then had written an expletive on one of the signs at Deep Gap with a sharpie/permanent marker. I thought I noticed writing on the signs around Summit Cut/just North yesterday when I ran that section.

Has anyone else noticed writing of this sort along this section of the trail recently? This person needs to be stopped if they are walking the trail writing on signs.

People in New Hampshire are up in arms about the Northern Pass Transmission Project, scheduled to construct aerial towers of up to 150 feet in height through the White Mountain National Forest and across the Appalachian Trail near the Kinsman Ridge and Franconia Notch.

The line is to bring power from Hydro-Quebec to Connecticut. Renewable but questionably green since it involves massive damming that would not be permitted in the US. The companies involved, Hydro, Northeast Utilities and PSNH, refuse to even consider burying the line, which is eminently feasible and is going on in Vermont, NY and Maine.

We need your help to contact Tom Wagner, Forest Supervisor for the WMNF and let him know that we object to disfiguring our most scenic landscape in this way.
