Gold bond and desitin saved me on my thru hike this past year
Ok will do. I know of a few that are about 5 days ahead and the others are probably close to southern Virginia now.
Im in waynesboro, VA. There are about 12 in front of the group of 4 I'm with
I'm a SOBO in duncannon, PA right now. The bubble should be about a week and a half to two weeks north right now
2. One to sleep in and one to hike in.
One step at a time. I have to keep telling myself to not sprint the marathon. I'm 500 miles into my SOBO thru and have to keep telling myself one day at a time. It's the hardest thing I've ever done,...
Green super feet. Im in Hanover,NH on my SOBO thru and they have saved me on the downhills and long days. $40, but totally worth it
I stayed with him at wadleigh stream lean-to on the second day of my thru. I didn't get any bad vibes from him until some other guys at the shelter explained some of the stories he had told and told...
The lean-to has a spring to the right of it. I was just there last night. It also rained last night too. You should be fine with water
I'm SOBO thru hiking right now and just got to Stratton. It's the toughest hiking I've done, but having a blast. I say go for it!
I just sumitted today and unless your in peak physical condition I don't recommend doing that. It's 10.4 miles up and back katahdin and another 10 to the border. Doing a 20 mile day on your first day...
I'll be following you(both on the internet and literally on the trail). I summit Katahdin on the 10th and head south on the 11th. Maybe we'll run into each other eventually. My name is Greg(no trail...
What's the theory on how coca leaves work?
I am interested in the altitude acclimation issue as one who's beginning to hike in the mile-high range and working towards higher elevations. I noticed...
I hiked the inca trail in 2009 and coca leaves made my hike a lot better. Tea in the morning and chewing on the leaves a little during the day made the altitude a lot more bearable.
I'm actually starting on the 11th.
Thanks
How many of you all wear a pair of sock liners underneath your wool socks? I have been a barefoot runner for about 6 months now and am wondering if I need a pair or two to protect my feet from...
I'm hiking katahdin on the 10th of June and then heading south on the 11th. My name's Greg. I'll probably be going by the trail name "wholeroll". I'm hiking solo so if you need company I'd be happy...
Is it early enough to tell what the black fly/mosquito season will be like in Maine and the whites?
I'm starting on the 11th from Maine. Maybe we'll cross paths. I'm going with the trail name "Wholeroll".
I am leaving for my SOBO thru on June 11. I recently took advantage of Golite's 50% off sale and got their lightweight down jacket. My question is which layering piece I should bring. I have a...
I am starting my SOBO thru on June 11th. I'm taking a semester off of college and going into my junior year of college come spring of 2012. Shoot me an email if you'd like to do some hiking together...
Never in my wildest dreams would i have thought my simple post spiral into this gigantic discussion. Haha. thanks for all the input everyone!
I literally just fell over laughing when I saw this. I might just have to take up that name haha
Thanks for the info! What you had leaving monson is exactly what I want my pack to be like. Did you wear socks with your chacos or just bare feet? I have problems with them when I don't wear socks...
get your hands on the book Appalachian Trials by Zach Davis. It's helped keep my mind focused and ready for my 2012 thru.
