Met two NOBO's today who quit at the springer parking lot on rt.42. ;-(
The only thing anyone on the AT needs a map for is blue blazing or yellow blazing. The trail is almost impossible to lose everywhere except Maine. Hell, a blind man hiked it!
Hubcap- (just summited...
Thats right Beater, hit em with the SOBO sarcasm. They all know SOBO's are better anyway.
Ill probably see him tomorrow since I'm at cloud 9 and heading SOBO in the am. Ill kick one of his duffels when I see him. Jackass!!!
this sounds like a dog that followed some NOBO's out of Sam's gap, and I took back to Sam's. If the owner can't keep his d*mn dog in his yard he shouldn't have somebody arrested if it follows them....
I would have to say a hubcap (how I got my TN) they really aren't very useful despite what you hear.
Great work! I may try to make one myself.
When I met the maine train going NOBO in 2006 one of them was wearing a daypack on front in addition to a regular pack on his back, didn't look comfortable but he didn't seem to mind.
Sorry to hear about the Achilles man, I hope it will heal so you can finish. After all this time on the trail don't let this take you down.
Best of Luck, and say hi to fishy T for me

I had a cat spray on my hammock when I hung it outside to dry. Also, I've heard you can throw a tennis ball in the dryer with your down bag to help break up clumps.
The squirrels in grim silence stood
Out in the road and not in the wood
mourning the loss off their freind
unable to fix or to mend
the remains of their flattened companion.

I definitely don't reccomend the yellow nylon rope from walmart, it frays and one morning at 2 am you will feel a falling sensation and then wake up and feel a thud! very unpleasant.:(
I carried a hubcap for about 600 miles on my SOBO thru this year, at one point I also picked up a big plastic battleaxe. One thing I must note though is that it is extremely difficult to hitchike...
You should remember that any drug will cause damage if used in too large qantities or for too long a period of time. Being an RN I have witnessed what Aspirin can do over time to your stomach. My...
stayed there a month and a half ago, and while the people are a little odd they certainly are friendly. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Hubcap

It all evens out in the end, you get something free today and tomorrow something will be taken from you. That being said I'd keep it.
The challenge of pushing my body to do more than I thought it could do
The solitude
The Interesting places to see
The freedom from a schedule
The great people you meet
If you get burned while cooking or something rub mustard on the burn and it will quit hurting.
I am going SOBO this year and finally set my start date as June 28, I live in southwest Virginia and I am planning on driving to Katahdin. If anyone needs a ride from between where I am and Katahdin...
Got this tent and it was horrible, tried it for about two months of weekend hiking this spring and got wet every single time. Personally I reccomend switching to hammock and tarp as I have done.
snow rules, I didn't think so until I hiked mt. Rogers in february. it's like walking on air, besides I'd rather freeze than sweat.:sun
