For camp shoes I got a pair of...
Fair enough, I was just trying for a cheap weight-saving alternative. I actually prefer pack covers myself, too. If you've got $44 to spare you can get a cuben fiber pack cover from zpacks that...

So how much does it all weigh? You probably don't need 3 pairs of gloves, just some warm liners and and maybe waterproof mitten shells. Also probably don't need 2 light sources and 2 lighters.
Yes. I recently spoke to a REI employee and former thru-hiker who told me while some of their packs are decent and good buys for short trips, they probably wouldn't last an entire thu-hike.

You could get a 1/8" foam pad from Gossamer Gear http://gossamergear.com/sleeping/1-8.html (or something similar) for $8 and 2.5 oz. Put that on top of your neoair in cold weather to boost...

I was going to order one of these soon but I didn't see color options on the website. Is that something you have to call about?
There might still be Kitmah jackets hanging out on REI clearance racks, my girlfriend just picked one up for about $65. I have one and really like it, I'm also a prolific sweater. If you call a...
Im looking into buying a ULA Circuit soon and I wasn't sure how to go with the shoulder strap option as I've never triede a pack with the S-curve. I've heard they are more favored for women but I've...
I also have a Phantom 32 that I was hoping to use, got it at a steep discount. We're starting in mid-March so I was wondering if that would allow to skip buying a 20 or 15 degree bag. My plan was to...
I'm planning on starting my hike in mid March with an old friend. We started talking about it in high school and it seems the planets are finally starting to align for us. Kind of overwhelmed with...
