Love my Notch, it performed much better than I would have expected in a hail and high wind storm in Grayson Highlands. Or course I'm the one who had to pitch not too far from Thomas Knob.
+1 on Cold Mt. I had to see myself but I wished I'd skipped it.
Full mesh. For those humid summer nights.
My Notch has done fine in heavy rain/lite hail. Even with some puddling around the tent, I stayed dry. Hail has splashed in the puddles and a couple of drops splashed up under the rain fly and...
I have the Golite poncho and like it. But I might check out the dry ducks one based on what others have said on here. I've checked Walmart and other places but can't find em.
People laugh at my bear spray. That's cool. But I carry it for dogs way more than bears. Been bitten once while hiking. Sorry to hear about your experience.

Here is my Notch a couple of days ago near Thomas Knob shelter on the AT. It weathered a tough storm that night.
Wow! Thanks for posting. Guess this is why I've seen a pretty decent price increase on a lot of down bags lately.
Thanks! Any other thoughts are welcome. Now to wait for my overtime to show up on my check!
Hi! Its new tent time to shave some weight off my pack. I've done a little research of trekking pole tents and I was curious of any thoughts on the Six Moon Design Skyscape vs Tarptent Notch tents....
Might cash out myself. I know. I signed up for it and all and am thankfull to have it but I really wish they dealt with true ultralite items.
I have an original Neoa Air, 15 ounces full length. My son is now backpacking with me and need a pad so we went to REI to get the new Xlite Neo Air pad. My current pad makes a little noise when you...
I use to love Montrail, until they were sold out. Now I use Oboz and love em.
Hello, I currently have a Western Mountaineering Carabou bag and love it. It's rated for 35 and I can easily go down to the upper 20's low 30's with it. But I'm cheap, so Ive asked about liners...
http://www.solio.com/chargers/solio-bolt/Looks like an improvement over the last model although I never used the last one. Anyone heard any positive/negatives on this newer version?
Western Mountaineering Caribou. 35deg, 1 lb 5oz. Used mine to upper 20's, stayed warm.
Another vote for the WM Caribou. Had mine down to 28 degrees, was pushing it but fine with me since it's rated at 35. Full zip too.
5.7 r value for 15 ounces, does any company offer something this warm/light in full length? Price?
So! My son needs a new pad due to his size. I think he might get my current neoair, daddy likes the xtherm specs and needs a warmer pad for winter anyway!! Check it out and post your thoughts.

thermarest neo-air, have the nest comfort, light weight.
Elk in MT Rogers?? Love that idea, shot, I'd love to see elk everywhere.
Love my T1. But i'm trying to lighten my load, been looking at other tent options. Now I'll wait to see the new weight of the T1.
buy the single nest, take off heavy caribiners and cord, buy the lightest climbing biner you can find and attach like pronest. it made my singlenest 14oz and still had the bigger hammock, for less...
