We will be out there the same week, only going the other way. We are starting from Deep Gap and going to Neels Gap, starting on Saturday. We are using Bills Wheels:

I ended up getting the Tarptent Stratospire 2. I set it up yesterday and it looks great. The ventilation looks great, something that was lacking in the BA. Lots of room for the same weight as the...
I have heard diaper pins work great. It is not very easy finding them any more, though. I wish I would have kept them from when my son was a baby.
I have a few friends who have done a section between Wilburn Ridge and Thomas Knob shelter, they call the "Stairmaster". One friend tells me she would never do that section again with a full pack...

Has anybody done the Jack's River Trail in North Georgia? It was a lot of fun. There were 21 river crossings in the 17- 18 miles of trail.
There was pretty good water at Miller Gap a week ago. We did not see any water after that.
We just did the approach trail to Neel gap last week (8/22-8/26). You can find water, but it is not easy. A lot of streams are dry or just a dribble. Get water whenever you see it.
My friends and I just returned from doing the approach trail to Springer through to Neel Gap in Georgia. We are planning on doing Boiling Springs south to Caledonia State Park in Pennsylvania in the...
