Pasta sides, and cosmic brownies, tp, jerky, cheese, water flavor packets off the top of my head.
Never been in that situation as my wife knew it was something I wanted to do even before we were married, but I want to return to the trail, so I will be looking forward to the responses.
Is it necessary to go with the combo of a tarp and waterproof bivy on the AT. I know it's obvious for tarps 6x10 and smaller. But I was wondering if an 8x10 will provide enough protection...
Did you sew or use tape? Where did you get your pattern? I'm kind of jealous.
I'm about 40 pounds overweight, but for me lightening the load is about saving my back and shoulders. Once I'm hiking I lose weight fast and I'm relatively active.
I'm hoping for a new black diamond headlamp and a snowpeak 900 mug.
Half the fun for me is feeling I can't take another step because I'm so tired and in so much pain, but I do it anyway. I feel so accomplished.
Does anyone have any tips or info on caching food in bear country. I'm looking into doing a two week trip along the Ouchita Trail this december and it seems to be the best option for a resupply.
I love my cosmic down 20. It has served me well and is a good balance between price, warmth, and weight. On the trail I pack it into a 13L dry sack.
May 12th over here.
What am I expecting to spend at hotels/motels in California? On the trail on the AT, it seemed rooms averaged 40-60 a night. Is there a culture of splitting rooms on the PCT like the AT?
Oh, and convertible pants won't work because I have a very short inseam. Convertible pants cut off closer to the ankle than the knee.
Two questions:
First, will I need long pants or can I go with running shorts and a pair of long underwear like I did for the AT? Sierras and the desert are my concerns.
Second, I have a base tee,...
Will a bear canister fit in a gorilla, or will I need a mariposa? I'm looking for a pack for my PCT trip. I know I've heard of gorillas being used on the trail, but I'm not exactly sure how roomy the...
I don't plan to do a complete thru. I'm just considering doing as much of the California section as I can. The date is/was chosen because my spring semester is over on the 8th. So my question is,...
The yo-yo guy. Anybody know where he's at, and how the yo-yo attempt is going?
Ouachita.
(i forgot to spell check).
Any thoughts?
I have one month to have fun between semesters december/january. How difficult is it to resupply? Hitch? Water situation? What's the terrain like? Is there an average pace you did?...
It's good to hear Tree Trunk is still on the trail.
I can officially say that I slept here! I didn't mean to be disrespectful in any way. Just tired, and it was the first clearing I came across that night. I knew I had set up my tent next to a stone...
Me too. Me too.
Kelty Cosmic Down 20 worked for my thru-attempt, I never had a cold night down to 30. I bought it on sale for 70. It does look girly. It's just over 2 pounds. Not much of a toe box.
I hitched about 10 miles north of Daleville. It was kind of tough. Maybe an hour or so.
No intention of alarming, just informing.
A murder suspect is believed to be running around there. Not sure how to post links, but Reuters is reporting it. Keep a good eye if you're going out...
