I write on the straws, bottles, jars, etc. with a permanent marker. Works very well on the straws; more limited success on glass jars that go in the refrigerator (at home obviously). 'Permanent'...
Mine is doing the exact same thing! Frustrating. And mine wasn't factory rebuilt. Think I'm going to have to replace it. :(

Learn using 3 pieces of rope. Much easier than braiding your own hair.
Fasten the ropes together at one end (knot, binder clip, whatever).
Put the outside right rope over the center rope.
Put...
I think the recommendation was just a cheapie hammock to lounge in for the afternoons. Whether you get a tent or a hammock to sleep in, your choice. :)

How many days do you think the hike will take you? If you're only packing for a couple or three days, take what you like and don't worry.
If it's going to be longer than that, food weight and...
Starting in early April, you definitely won't be alone. You're going to be in the bubble.
Have fun! And try not to stress too much.

Didn't realize dogwood bark was 'edible'. Do you use twigs? Is it also bark from the red maple, beech and fruit trees?
I drink a LOT of dried stinging nettle 'tea' - lots of vitamins, minerals,...
I've found the Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap at Trader Joe's in Knoxville.

The one that is involved in the production of civet coffee is often called a civet cat, but civet is a term applied to a lot of different critters.
According to Wikipedia, the Asian palm civet is...
Someone offered me some civet coffee once. I thanked him but declined after explaining I didn't see any upside, lol.

Been a long time since I had that bread. I remember it as dense, but tasty. No idea what the shelf life would be though.

I'm 5' 4" and got a pair of Frogg Toggs that fit. (They're big to go over clothes, but not huge.) Mine are women's.
Unfortunately, we're in the middle of a move, and I have no idea exactly where...
I actually have a wash board, but no, I wouldn't want to use it for all our laundry. I did try it once, although not in the crik. ;)

Not sure how big your sheet of tyvek is, but I washed mine in the washing machine.

We hiked the same section for both the first (Spring) and last (late Fall) trail of the season one year. It was amazing how much flatter and easier that trail got in 8 months, lol! It was also cool...
Or vice versa. Park at the southern end; shuttle to Erwin first; then hike back to your car. This will save you some driving, and make it easier for you to connect with the shuttle.

Nail polish remover here IS in plastic bottles. I haven't even seen a glass bottle of it in 30(?) years. I rarely ever use it, and don't know if it's still acetone though.

Maybe if your grinder can produce a coarse grind? Otherwise, I think you'd be looking at what amounts to an espresso grind.

If you're talking about the guy I mentioned, it was a bottom-entry Hennessy hammock, so it was hung to be able to sit into it. Maybe 3 feet off the ground while he was in it? And yes, he was using a...
We've done a lot of hammock camping in the Smokies. Just as easy to hang the backpack on the bear cable as to figure out where else to put it to keep the raccoons, etc. out of it.
