I don't see the advantage of permanently waterproof shoes. I don't always want that feature. Why not make them more modular and move as much of their functionality as possible to liners and socks?...

I don't know if sandals make sense for winter. Waterproof socks, shoe liners, or bags have advantages over waterproof shoes. You can decide whether to make your shoes waterproof. If your shoes get...
What do you recommend?
I put my big shoes and pack under a pack cover. My small shoes go in the tent. I'd like a better technique. I never expected sealed bags to be popular. For those who store them indoors, why don't you...
It would be nice to quantify the parameters of materials.
Parameters I thought of:
dryining speed
strength to weight
abrasion
insulation to weight
UV (ultraviolet) resistance
SPF
For down, I concluded that some sources of eiderdown might be ethical. Goosedown might be ethical if you harvest it yourself. Harvesting down only after killing would make too much meat for 1 person.
shoe shelter poll
shoe container and cover poll
I made a separate poll about containers and covers for shoes.
examples:
netted, covered:
in tent
in hammock
netted, uncovered
I made a separate poll about the shelter the shoes go in.
definitions:
entrance cover: It goes on a shoe's opening, but not around the whole shoe.
container: It covers the whole shoe....
I'll make new polls for
location
container
examples:
indoors:
in a tent or hammock
outdoors:
uncovered or under a tarp or vestibule
sealed:
in a dry sac

What fabrics and insulation are best for the environment, ethicality, and performance?
You might be able to find ethical eiderdown. For other down, I haven't found ethical sources. I found certified ethical sources, but the certificates seem bogus. There wasn't enough transparency for...
I'd like to find my favorite doomsday tent.
tolerances:
Indoors
peak height: 18-36 inches
60-120% the space in a Eureka Solitaire
I'd like to learn about military modular sleep systems from different countries.
I prefer non-waterproof, but either is fine.
I have the coffin shaped Canadian Eureka Solitaire. It works well after spray waterproofing. The fabric is thick; so its heavy.
something from Sierra Designs or Tarp Tent
I don't know how this helps, but Dartmouth College has a cheap buss that goes from Boston to Hanover NH. I guess you could go to Nawford's Crotch.
I need to decide whether to get the "Chameleon 3 Stretch" or "Chameleon 4 Stretch". I heard that one of the Chameleons had a weak heel counter.
A little about me:
Merrell shoes fit my feet...
Suppose you're going north. You cross the Hudson River, and go up the hill a ways. You then take the side trail on your right. Eventually you will see signs that say "Caution. Unexploded...
