Ignored warnings get dancing bananas - Mags :D
It's different for everyone, and there's no "one true ultimate rainjacket," because rain protection is always a compromise in one direction or another.
For me? The best rain jacket has been, and...
Not many boots these days can be resoled (at least, none that I've ever encountered), unless you somehow find a shoemaker on the trail willing to try and slap an off the shelf sole blank onto a...
I'm well and truly into ultralight now, but I still loved my old Osprey packs.
I've had two Aether 70's. They were my first packs. The first one slid down a mountain in PA (with me attached to it)...
Regardless of what you get, they must absolutely fit. They REALLY shouldn't require any significant break-in period. Footwear that does need to be broken in may be fine, but there's often a different...
It's true, episode 5 is certainly the best yet :)
Which, honestly is saying something because I've been enjoying the show since the first one.
I carry a Dermasafe folding razor blade or a tiny little Spyderco Bug (both about the same weight, dermasafe is larger but more fragile) and the tweezers out of a swiss army knife.
I generally average about 18-25 a day, but I'll still do a 10-15 mile day if I'm ahead of schedule or something. My baseweight is between 5 and 7lbs depending on season, and I prefer to keep moving...

I'm considering removing the arcteryx jacket and getting a montbell ex light...
I'm getting closer to my intended start date, and money is unfortunately getting very tight to be able to afford the trail (transportation to and from is the worst part).
If I can't manage the trail...
The way to go for me is a rain kilt/skirt (its super silly either way, so who cares about the name).
Breathes perfectly, keeps the important bits dry.
Shoes get wet, but my shoes are always wet....
UL Cold shoulder season list
Pack: MLD Burn 12oz
Bivy: Borah Size Zip M50 Large/Wide 6.5oz
Tarp: Borah 5x9 Silnylon ...
I carry a folding Opinel (#6 maybe? Can never remember), tick key and that's all I've ever needed.
I've sometimes brought a Leatherman Squirt PS4 instead of a normal lightweight blade. Useful but...
Confirming that. My Contrail is about 25oz all up in the stuffsack.
I pretty exclusively wear either a REI Safari shirt (I've got a couple in long sleeved and short sleeved) or just an underarmor HeatGear Tactical shirt (semi-loose fitting kind).
I treat both in...
I'm looking at SOBO mid-late September. First backpacking trip over 4-5 days :)
I absolutely cannot wait.
