Trying to decide between Hammock Gear and Zpacks cuben fiber tarp, was leaning toward the Zpack but a little concerned when I see they have no reviews on their web site...any opinions on the Zpack?

Get the hood, I have three without a hood and would trade all three for one with a hood, you don't have to use the hood if it's raining, but you won't have the down jacket on anyway if you are...
I had a 13 rattle zipper pull on my Marmot down jacket.
I wear my trash bag on the outside, cut slits for the pack straps.
I never go to the woods without my Dirty Girls.....I love Dirty Girls.
My straps don't loosen but the gear in the pack settles after walking a ways makes the straps seem loose.
I've used them both, when I had one i wished I had the other, each has it's pros and cons. A poncho will cover your pack to keep it dry, it's easy to regulate body temperature by opening the poncho...
Mitch, I've done this trail a couple of times, you'll enjoy it. IMO, you already have the best company you could ask for, wish my dog was still able to hike with me.
I opted for the Data Book over the Atlas, but they both fall short...a small map for resupply towns would be nice.
