I also stayed there early last August and had the whole place to myself. Not even a mosquito to bother me. That is a beautiful area.
I was at my desk at work. When I saw the pictures on my computer I almost went into shock. A week later I was talking to a recruiter trying to reinlist in the Army. I had been out of the service...
[quote=Mags;852217]Exactly. A fire in the low desert or alpine terrain would be...interesting. :)
True story. I caught the ground on fire in MT once and thought I would never get it put out....
I think the vast majority of us long to have things pure, clean and wholesome but the fact is those days are gone. We have too many people in this country to hope for any change back to the way...
Darn Laurie Ann, you're a wealth of knowledge on cheese. I now know how to keep my cheddar from becoming a greasy heap in hot weather! thanks again.
For NOBO's what about the availability of food once you reach park road or campground before the climb up Katahdin?
Hey, I have a question about the 100 mile wilderness. What is there to eat at the north end of it. I don't have a problem carrying enough food to make it thru but the thought hit me......then what? ...

I went for a workout the other day on my personal trail which is wooded and has a power line which has bushes and tall grass. I was gone about 2.5 to 3 hours. When I got home I picked 7 ticks off...
It is a privatly owned shelter. Stayed there with SOJO, Conan and a lady from FL last July. Neat place with interesting octagon shaped privy. Only sleeps about 4 people. I tented in back of it.

A gallon? Did you say a gallon? That's a lot of moo!!
I drank milk at every opportunity while on the trail. Many times I would leave town with a half gallon and sip it as I walked.
Really sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you mend quickly and have no long term issues. Take care.
This is an echo of my mind. The sad reality is that in today's America honest takes second place to winning. A growing number of kids are not taught the importance of telling the truth or doing...
Cowhead see what you got started ? LOL
About the workout, #1, you're carrying too much weight for a guy your size. Start your workout with about 20 pounds. After 10 days, add another 5-7 pounds....
I also stayed with him last year but he was gone to carry 3 hikers to ME. Bill and Butch took care of us nicely. I gave up my place in the house to some lady and tented on the lawn.
Hey Pusher...
I am starting north from Grafton Notch SP on June 29th or 30th in route for Katahdin to finish my hike that I began last year at Springer Mtn GA on 3/1. When you and I pass each other I want to see...
