Seriously? 150,000+?
I got this too while on a recent trip. I reduced it somewhat by sleeping with my fleece mid layer in my hip area. I guess it was made worse by the fact I was only using a cheapy blue foam pad.

If you need any information about Te Araroa don't hesitate to ask as I have been researching it for a while.
Yep, definitely. I live in New Zealand and I'm still in high school for another year (probably) but after that I may end up hiking the Te Araroa trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff. It looks so beautiful.
sorry that's http://www.teararoa.org.nz
In addition to this, I recommend you look at the main website for the trail, http://www.teararoa.co.nz
I'm just thinking at this stage, and haven't really planned anything but if all goes well and I've saved enough by 2011 when I graduate high school a kiwi may be hitting the trail :)

It's your first post and you link 4 times to a retail site? Suprise suprise.
1kg of Titanium weighs the same as 1kg of alumninium. It's just that titanium is 60% more dense than aluminium.
Look, this is evidently an arguement that I cannot win with you. You're not reading what I say and responding to it properly, you're simply twisting my words and believing that because you are 62,...
If it makes you feel better, feel free to believe that I am troll/fool.
Please stop twisting my words. I never said the parks can be serviced/staffed without money. I'm saying that charging fees...
If you're willing to shell out a lot more you could go for the Olympus Stylus Tough 8000 which is shockproof, and waterproof among other things.
Did I ever once say I'm entitled to free National Parks? And anyway, they're not free at all. Taxpayers pay for their upkeep. I wouldn't have a problem for that, it's just like people paying to...
Yeah, but I guess physically paying specifically to go into land you own yourself (citizens of your country) is more of a psychological thing, I guess it's almost like an insult.
Anyway, to be...
Of course some does.
Yes, New Zealand has some great tramping tracks :D, and I've done some of them. Sure there are some fees, for well maintained campsites and huts, most of which have wooden beds and matresses etc, and...

I personally don't live in the USA, but I was looking at the website of the NPS (specifically the Big Bend National Park) and realised...
Nobody ever said the OP was going to be totally reliant on his GPS, except you. To assume is to make an ass out of u and me.
I really think you should take some layers, just in case. Conditions can change very easily and you should be prepared. Its better to have it and not need it....
Have a look at merino wool tops. They might be good for you.
6-8 litres a day? Seriously?
To the OP, did you drink the water too fast, instead of spreading it out.
