Had my first real clear star moment on my hike this year at Overmountain shelter. Foggy evening broke into a pleasant, albeit short star gazing opportunity. Also walking skyline drive for a few miles...
Beating a dead horse here but,
I came to the realization on my journey this year that most thru-hikers feel entitled mainly due to the vast amounts of trail magic thrown at them so early in the...

I was a Ridgerunner for a few years, you get paid to hike (and lots of other stuff...). You don't get paid much, but its enough to keep hiking!

I'll second this. Waiting to hear from Milkman (this is his account), Box Elder, Mel Gibson, and any others who may be traveling with them
Maybe I'm out of the loop because of this thru-hike thing, but the threads on this website never cease to amaze me. Cheers!
Hanging out in Hiawassie as I type. Hope everyone else is enjoying themselves, cheers!
I'd suggest selling such a large asset.

I agree with your view on wilderness, but one may find wildness where ever they please. Check out some Guy Waterman books, mainly Wilderness Ethics, great read on this subject!
In futuristic soviet Appalachia, pack carries you.
Bunch of bitter ninnies on this site. Who cares if people are giving away free food, sounds f-ing great to my wallet! Boo hoo, the AT ain't what it used to be, get used to it.
