A topstitched French seam works really well a ridgeline of a tarp or tent. Here's some instructions on how to sew it.

I've gotten bitten by the external frame bug. I've got lots of internal frame packs, dont' really need any more of those (but I'm looking at the starlite :).
I'm making a pack to go on to a...
I have the Kennebec kit, but I haven't taken the time to make it. For some reason I make backpacks and tarps before clothes!
But it's ON SALE! What you are freaking out about!:D
You could try the Thru-Hiker Kennebec Insulated Pullover pattern. It's a pattern for a synthetic jacket, but I don't see why you couldn't use the pattern (and 0.8oz nylon) to make it. Then put the...
What in the heck are us Seattleites doing on this board anyway?
<grin>
I think it will probably work ok, but the coating is much more likely to get scraped or damaged on the outside. It will leak whereever the coating is damaged.
With coated nylon, you want the coating to be on the inside.
This was already mentioned, but eat sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds. Shelled pumpkin seeds are very good. I buy 'em at Trader Joes. They have shelled organic and unshelled ones. My son prefers the...
All sugars are bad, especially in quantities typically consumed in this country. Even honey, fructose, etc. All "natural" fruit juices contain so much sugar (frutcose in this case) that they are...
If I remember correctly, it's only the partially hydrogenated oils that are bad. This is according to Protien Power...
I got my Nest a little while ago. I haven't yet had it out in the woods :(. I'm hoping to do that in a couple weeks!
It's a really nice quilt. It's rectangular in shape and has a velcro slit...
I carry a Leatherman juice pro in my bag in my daily life, but for hiking they are just too heavy.
When hiking I just carry a knife. A nice, light, sharp one! It has a 3" blade and weighs less...
I think two feet deep would be enough if you put a crossbar across the top to keep the tops from wanting to collapse inward. Get a pipe or extra 4x4 to keep them from leaning inward. Otherwise I'm...
MedicineMan, you mentioned something about babying the pack. Does it seem any less durable than say, a GVP G4?
I am pretty careful with my gear, I don't think I would damage my G4, except in a...
MedicineMan (or Bruce), I have a few more questions...
How would you attach a bladder to this setup? I wonder if you could sew on little pockets on the ends of the cylinders? I like having at...
I've heard that the Hennessy's are nice on the phone, but I can't respond to your experience. I bought mine at REI (who were completely worthless about hammocks, of course).
The Hennessy isn't a...
MedicineMan, you are on a spending frenzy!
I've found this pack interesting, but I just can't swallow the price. I am really intrigued about a lightweight external frame, I think it's a really...
I have found the "blue plastic" bladders to be worse than the clear ones. I have two Camelbacks, which function well but taste funky, a couple nalgene "cantenes" (the bottle that's a bag with a lid),...
It's been so long since I've heard about an HH taco. I can't remember how Ray and others have them set up for HH's. Can somebody point me to Ray's site or others with info that's HH-specific? I don't...
I was considering making Howie's quilt, which is almost the exact same thing. But I've been working so much, I don't have time to make it. And the materials would have still cost around $120-150.

Thanks SGT!
I'm glad your back, man.
I've read most of your site and your information has been very helpful. I made some of your stoves, etc.
I bought an Arc Alpinist this spring...
I PM'd PeterPan about a week ago and haven't heard anything. Did they get back to you quickly? Is there any other way to get a hold of them (like email)?
Thanks
