I will concur. The Gators are just too tough, and Tebow is money. Gators over the Tide in the SEC championship, which to everyone outside the SEC is really the national championship, 27-17. Boise...
Okay, UT fans. Don't get me wrong I like the Vols and Crimson Tide as well. But the Vols are coming to Oxford on November 14th to face my Ole Miss Rebels. I will place a bet and guarantee a Rebel...
On a trail, any trail, anyone who doesn't know how to use a map and a compass and carry them is foolish. Thus endeth thy rant.
My grandaddy always said persimmons were never good until after a frost. He lived to be 94 and we always took his advice. They make a real good jelly or preserves.
My favorite so far is Yosemite. You talk about big country and great hikes, it has it all. My National Park passport has 11 stamps so far and on my bucket list is to visit every one. So many...
Try Half Dome in Yosemite in a day. Makes Katahdin seem like a walk in the Park.
Naw, that's just the mating call of Arkansas Razorbacks.......from a proud #4 in the country Ole Miss Rebel......for now.......ha
Had an AK-47, scared my wife. That sucker could take out turtles in the pond like nobody's business, but loud and kicked like hell.
A 1200 pound hog? Come on. Most of them around here would do well to be over a 100 pounds. That some beach, if 1200 pounds would look like freaking Godzilla. No way.
Funny, since we have been infested with fire ants and armadillos, I haven't seen one nest in the last 10 years. In fact, I've only seen one solo yellow jacket on the back forty and he was in...
And no real Rebel would leave this out, my family is 3 generations and these are the first words you learn.......Go to he##, LSU!
The Ole Miss Rebels are ranked #5. We don't play Florida. We've got Alabama, Tennessee and LSU in Oxford. We have been known to disappoint, for sure, but if the stars align and Lone Wolf stays in...
I always just whistle when about 25 yards away. It works for my dogs, and they're smarter than most hikers.:D
Think again, dude. It's called contingency management. I once hiked with little or nothing in my day pack and got lucky. Didn't tell anybody where I was or when I'd be back. Never got in trouble,...
I'll tell you, hiking sections is tough. Probably tougher than a thru, although I can't speak to that. I've run 2 marathons, 13 half marathons but nothing compares to a section and then having to...
beware the Jabberwock my friend, the claws that bite, the jaws that snatch......if'n you're down here in Mississippi I'll take you on a real snipe hunt.......don't let them Yankees fool you.....that...
I'll give it a go. We're freaking idiots. But I'd never pee in a bottle.
Beer cures everything. Just saying. Flushes all those impurities out, thins the blood and makes you happy. And it's over the counter and a lot cheaper than prescription meds.
Brett Favre retired (again) and now he's back with the Vikings. You gotta love a Mississippi gamer, just sayin. Samyoji will be back. He's a gamer.
I have to chime in here, glasses make no sense on the trail. If you have to take them out every 8 hours, you need to see your eye doc. I can wear mine for a week if I have to (don't want to) but it...
Yep, I'm a -6.0 diopter so I can't even read the alarm clock from 3 feet away. I would not consider glasses, but think about a small mirror so you can put them in easily. It's worth the hassle.
It used to be 146 miles. Guess they had a relo that shortened it.
But no SEC football in Hanover. Sadly, I'm out.:(
Have him practice setting up his gear in the rain. Have a training camp in the backyard so he can pitch his tent, or tarp, or hammock in the dark and feel comfortable. It gives you confidence that...
