Eckville and 501 shelters in PA are closed (but they're right by a road and have care takers).
Shartlesville Motel6?
Anyone tried Countryside Deluxe AirB&B in Danielsville (instead of Palmerton)?
Thanks Slo, I was trying to plan for September (arranging shuttles and whatnot).
Any update here? I need to leave a car for 2 weeks while sectioning PA. Can you park at Kittatinny Visitor Center? it looks pretty convenient to the trail and right over the NJ border.
In Mid Sept a friend and I will be hiking 2weeks from Duncannon to DWG. Resupply looks to in Hamburg (Microtel), Palmerton (Bert's hostel), and Wind Gap (Gateway Motel?). Looks like most of the old...
I love the single serve Guacamole cups at Aldi, any idea how long they'd keep unrefridgerated? (Mild temps low 70-mid 40s)
My 2016 ATTHC says ford on both. I would assume that means between ankle and waist deep. For traction I usually leave shoes on.
I'll be Sobo in that same section around the same time (I should...
Worst on trail food is a toss up between Teriyaki Knorr side, and Spanish flavored Quinoa Blend from Aldi. Buried most of each.
There was a BBQ place in Erwin called River Bend I think. We went on a Thursday night before a section hike and it was awful, the meat was at least 4 days old and reheated. Sides tasted prepackaged.

I did Niday to 4 pines NOBO (16.8). The problem would be there isn't much water between Va 620 and Niday, so you have to dry camp. But the the ridge near the Audie Murphy Memorial is would be a nice...
Garfield Shelter 10 miles, Guyot Shelter 15.7
Typically car rental places are by airports (if you can rent a car, you can usually find a shuttle provider). And to pay $20-50 /day for it to sit in a lot while you hike can get expensive. One way...
This guy made it from Kent in 52 days. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10157537412540152&set=gm.2306733789403854&type=3&theater&ifg=1
GREAT price though.
Reminds me alot of the ULA Ohm. Not sure if I'd like the vest style straps (I tend to hike hot). The zipered pockets seem cool. Torso Length of the M/L is too short for me, and probably ALOT of...
SMD Lunar Solo now uses silpoly as well. https://www.sixmoondesigns.com/products/lunar-solo
AFAIK, Silnylon doesn't delaminate like PU coated fabrics. The misting is a characteristic of silnylon (also they sag when wet). If those things really bother you, you can get a Silpoly tent like...
DG to Erwin is 104 miles.
Also FYI, I-40 is NOT Davenport Gap, they're 2 miles apart. (I had to argue with an ignorant shuttle driver once on this fact.)
SHould be 51 days Therefore 714 miles. => Mile 1471
Mile 1467 (NOBO) = Kent CT
Miles/day* days to hike= Miles from Katahdin.
14mpd * 41days = 574 ( I applied a weekly zero)
Miles 578.5 = Bennington VT
Trail, always. It ain't called Appalachian ROAD!
Why not stay at the Birches?
