Eagles Nest to Port Clinton wasn't very bad, it is a steep drop into PC tho. I'm hiking out of PC north this Friday so I can let you know in two weeks when I get back. I fear it's pretty rocky tho...
Should be fine, but definitely not flat. There are several cutoff trails if needed. I would probably do it SOBO the climbing would be easier, there is a trail to the AT from the backpacker parking...
I've hiked about 70% of the JMT and it's entirely doable with a hammock
I used Sharron of Sharrons Shuttles when I was doing that area this year. Her place is only a mile or so off the AT on a well maintained trail and you could park at her place.

I did 31 miles from Bryds Nest shelter to hwy 522 Front Royal last week. 123 over 6 days from Simmons Gap to Harpers Ferry.
Weather reports look pretty good right now, but who trust weathermen. The laurel is blooming in this area. Looking forward to some great sights.
Thanks for all the great info
So my plan is to drive up Sat. 5/25 and hike to Rockfish Gap in 7 to 8 days. Any info from the WB friends local to that area sights to see places to stay etc. Thanks in advance
Daleville Va. to Rockfish Gap starting this Sat. Hopefully in 7 days
Sounds like a good plan. I think you should be fine. I did the South Lake to North Lake loop in 09 it is a great trip.
Daleville Va. to Rockfish Gap Va.
Thanks for the info. Just talked to my shuttle and was told there was a pretty good snow last weekend, so I'm going to wait a few weeks and then try.
Thanks that was very helpful.
I'm heading up to hike this section tomorrow, any info would be helpful. Any road access between VA 43 and James River?
I'd go with the 1.1 DL since your going with a pad at first. Get the adjustable strap suspension, if weight becomes an issue you can easily change to whoopie slings. Good time to buy right now since...
