I used hiking poles for two yrs and finally gave them up half way through my 1k mile run in 07. I loved not having them! I have a full replacement ACL and meniscus damage but w/o the poles I had no...

I am planning for a SOBO section from Kent to DWG.
Getting to NYC from DWG at the end is easy enough.
What is the best way to get to Kent? Should I fly in to Hartford and then is there a bus...

The BRP roadwalk has some nice views! So I've heard... :D
Nice clip! Hiking a trail and just happen to be able to ask a possible future president how he would protect the parks etc. ...pretty sweet imo.
I'm really questioning this quote from the article:
"Traveling was tough," Obert said. "With a pack in excess of 250 pounds and with snowshoes going through 5-foot snow -- it was rigorous."

I've...
The salamanders and such were my favorite thing to see on the trail. Thanks for giving them a name Mowgli. I saw tons of the red and black ones (which I was calling Bob and Fred) around Hot Springs...
That's wild. I used mine for 2 months this year on the AT and had no probs with the netting
Just James tried not using a sleeping bag this year for a bit and said he found it pretty uncomfortable. Of course he wasn't wearing a down suit either ;)
I have been repeating the 'Start out sow then go slower' mantra in my head these last few weeks. I did the go fast then breakdown thing last time out.
(read: go fast,in my case, simply means...
Sounds like you need a Titanium Underquilt :jump
Good thing you weren't in a tent though lol.
I'm out of a job next Friday and on the trail on April 11th. It still doesn't seem real :D
I've had my TarpTent Squall2 for about 2 years now and love it. I do have the sewn in floor so I can't comment on how the floorless versions handle.
With wind and rain it does help to pitch the...
