I would think you would lose pack integrity, and 95L frameless and full just seems counter productive. IMHO you need to drop weight somewhere else. That pack is huge.

well you should be comfortable...you only have 35% the load it was designed to haul. That thing is a BEAST. Reality is (at least for me) it is too late in the game to change direction now. I'm with...
Another Update for those not following the BPL thread (direct copy)
NEW Re: KEN KNIGHT IS MISSING ON APPALACHIAN TRAIL IN VA on 04/30/2009 21:40:06 MDT...
A new note from Ryan over on BPL:
"HAVE YOU HIKED WITH KEN KNIGHT BEFORE? Posted 04/30/2009 13:35:53 MDT by Ryan Jordan (ryan) I'm looking for Ken's hiking partners.
I'm most interested in...
I concur ...I have ordered from them several times and have found them to be top notch.
Tumble your Down on low - but keep your syn out of the dryer. For syn lightly shake and hang, but syn WILL lose loft with time and use.
Mine have saved my big butt MANY times...never broken one myself.
Obviously looking at them at REI gives you a real trail feel. I suggest trying a pair one time. They work for some and not for...
I use my all time with my downmat in winter. For me it adds a little warmth and also makes for a less slippy setup. These guys are cheap, light, packable and I guarantee you will find a use for it....
less stuff sacks = less weight. I try to use as few stuff sacks as possible. Use only what need to organize your small stuff. I also find it easier to even out my pack weight when I don't use many...
if you want to use one...the best use I have found so far is a ground sheet. It's still noisy but nothing like having it on top of you.
backyard test?
I have owned both Seedhouse SL1 and a Rainbow....These are apples and oranges to me. Both great tents, but the Rainbow feels like a 2 man tent (it's 1+ for sure) compared to the SL1. Needless to say...
If you are trying to take a 20F bag down to -20F....You have the wrong bag. Remember this is the UL forum, when you are talking about pounds of wool you are moving far into the wrong direction for...
Do I hear an echo? Yep...The Conduit is not the best starter pack. I own one and I like it alot, but I would think a GG Vapor trail or the like is a better place to start. The VT is far more...
This would be a great cheap start... http://www.rei.com/product/750638
Great sale!
Freestanding w/ trekking poles...either the Tarptent Rainbow or Double Rainbow....NICE size and light.
I wouldn't suggest sleeping in a rain jacket. If warmth is an issue one would usually have atleast a vest or other insulating layer available. What I am saying is...IMHO taking off your down vest...
Can I ask why it would be a "last resort"? Why carry an additional 8oz piece of gear to do what another piece of gear you are already carrying can do? redundant?
Skip it...save your money. Wear all your clothing instead. Why carry another 8oz to do something your jacket will do 10 times over. I own a Thermolite and would guess on it's best day 3 degrees of...
FYI red ledge is pretty junkie stuff...you can find NICE rain gear for 40 or 50 on sale...REI just had a Marmot Oracle for $50...
Based on the key that you pay for what you get - either now or later - Western Mountaineering or Feathered Friends. I really like dealing with the guys at FF, but I think that WM has a wider overall...
I propose a race...I think everyone should pack up, head out and get on trail. Whoever finishes whatever distance they want over whatever time period they want with whatever gear they want with a...
Actually a single wall tent does not equate to more condensation. Lack of ventilation is the main cause condensation. A second wall will act as a barrier between you and the condensate, but it is...
Well, not to self promote, but I do have a Mutha Hubba w/ footprint for sell over in gear for sell. I bought it New for my family tent but have never used it. Only set up in the yard. I'm getting...
Icebreakers....I have several different weights and styles and you just can't beat them.
