One time in Canyonlands we got hit with probably the worst wind storm I've ever seen. The entire sky was red because of all the sand it kicked up. Luckily, we already had out tents set up and took...

I have both packs and definitely prefer the Mariposa. The Pinnacle is definitely a great pack but it's pretty spartan on features (I have the model before they added hip belt pockets). To me, the...
The are still available. Email Don at Fourdogstove.com. He is the one that made them for me and will still make them for you even though I don't sell them anymore. Enjoy your lid!
For those of you considering an Aarn pack, you might find this video I recently posted on the Featherlite Freedom interesting. Anyone else have tips for fitting your Aarn Pack?
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
Hey Everyone. I just started a new website for people who like to fly fish on backpacking trips. In the upcoming months, I'll be adding blog posts, videos, and other cool stuff for people who like...
I use Gossamer Gear Light Trek 4 carbon poles exclusively and would never use anything else. Once you hold such a light pole in your hand, you will never want to go back to aluminum.
Dave, I want one of these as well. Did you find adjusting the pack for the best fit to be intuitive or was there a learning curve?
Wise Old Owl,
Does the smoke appear all the time or only when the stove is about to go out? Are you putting longer pieces in and keeping them vertical or are they shorter pieces piling up...
All the things I've never used have been systematically weeded out over the years. Now I'm down to the basics.
EXCELLENT design! The only thing I would add is silicone tubing sleeves one the legs just to give it a grippier surface so it can cling to things like the Joby Gorilla Pod.
Bullseye,
LOVE the concept but what about all of us who can't make it to the specified destination on the specified date? It might be beyond the scope of what you want to commit to but here's what...
Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Much better than foil, eh?
Thanks man! The truth is, if you knew how much I actually make off of each lid, you'd probably be shocked. After paying for the inventory, buying the shipping materials, addressing the packages,...
UPDATE: The Snow Peak Trek 700 and 900 lids are now online.
For general backpacking use, I prefer a folder with a belt clip. My favorite one now is the Spyderco Delica 4 (plain edge).
The fibers get a good hold of it. Some stuff you can shake off but the little stuff you have to pull off one by one. That's my experience anyway.
No worries man!
Hey Captn,
Thanks! No, I'm making almost nothing off the lids. I just want to make them available to people who don't have the tools to make them themselves. I still have to buy them, take...
Thanks! You bring up a good point. Unfortunately, my scale only does ounces so it wouldn't be accurate for me to translate it to grams. I should get a better scale because this one probably is...
Have you checked out ULA Packs? The Catalyst sounds like it might fit the bill for you. It has 3 external pockets and 2 awesome hip belt pockets.
I was asked by members of several forums (including this one) to post an announcement IN THE FORUMS when the lids were ready. So that's what I did. Please get all the facts before accusing someone...
One caveat. I washed my Tyvek ground cloth and it did soften it up. The only problem was that it became somewhat fibrous. When I picked it up from the forest floor, all kinds of debris clung to it...
Why can't I edit my own post?
I've tried aluminum foil, baking sheets, can bottoms, tooling foil, and just about everything to make a lid for my Snow Peak 600 but I think I've finally got the perfect lid. Click here. Let me...
