I want to add to this. I have the same problem. Strong muscles help but so does LOTS of ibuprofen. I also found that pointing my toe to the outside when I took that downhill step eliminated any...
That's my Dream Hike!!! I've been saving two years for it. Can't wait till retirement! I would love to read about your hike!

I eat Ibuprophen every 4 hours before and during the hike to minimize swelling. I also got the Cho-Pat knee brace that surrounds the knee (miracle device). Sometimes I hurt, but mostly I dont
I used Sharon's shuttles a week ago Very nice lady! And reasonable
Slbirdnerd. You, too!!?? I thought it was just us!
I'm waiting for kindle format. Any news on that?
You can always park at the 4H center just off a side trail from the AT. It is very safe there. You just have to fill out a form with your information and leave it at the office.
Are there any cliffs between Poplar Ridge Lean To and Spalding Mountain Leanto that inchworm could have been pushed or fallen off and have they been searched?
I don't like to become separated from my pack. I take it with me. I use a Diva Cup. No need to expose anything. Good discussions on this "problem" in the Women's Hiker Forum.

HikerMom, because there was NO MYSTERY CALLER. That account has been discredited by the authorities after searching phone records.
Dare I share this? I'll go out on a limb and be the weirdo... http://thephoenix.com/Boston/news/134322-strange-lights-of-stratton/?page=5#TOPCONTENT
Somebody DID mention this as an explanation. ...
After reading 500 posts and newspaper articles I agree with the authorities, now. No foul play. If you were going to abduct someone you wouldn't pick between Lone Mt and Spaulding Lean To to do it. ...
It just sounds to me that somebody came up from that side trail and took her. A local that knows the area well. She could still be with us. Don't give up hope!
At this late point it DOES sound like foul play. She's not there. Some weirdo with a 4x4 SUV on one of those logging roads? A hermit? It has happened before, not on the AT, but out West. ...
First time I've heard this! Inchworm started out at Harper's Ferry with a hiking partner! They hiked all the way to New Hampshire together when her partner had to leave the trail for family...
$300 for a SPOT and a yearly $300 subscription just aren't "affordable" for me. If I was going out for 5 months and hiking the AT, maybe. But I do weekends.
Please do! I'm very interested!
