It's not really made for thru-hiking, but any stovetop espresso maker is better than a French press coffee maker IMO. There are a few insanely small, aluminum construction espresso makers though....
My favorite is Bustello Freeze Dried coffee. It is a bit bitter/sour, but what coffee isn't. Nescafe Instant is also surprisingly good. Make sure you purify your water first though!
