    Default VT12: The Barn

This Barn in not in the guidebook. Don allows hikers to stay in his Civil War era Barn. He prefers it to be a word-of-mouth thing.

I'd like to send Don a postcard of appreciation but don't know how to find his mailing address. If someone knows please PM me.

    TIA

Tried looking at the barn on VT 12 which had the "welcome warrior hikers" sign out this summer on google earth. Found a mailbox with the numbers 12 24 on it but could not get enough resolution to see anymore clearly. The mail box is across the road from the white two story house where I believe the owner lives. Give it a look.

Sorry I don't have his address. You might ask the owner of the country store that's 300-400 yrds down the road, they are listed in the Companion I think.
I got out of the rain in The Barn in 2012. Don was a good guy. He did restoration of old buildings. He wanted to build a privy. Did he ever get it built? Four of us stayed one night, three NOBO one SOBO.

No privy. He allowed us access to the bathroom in his house.

I just LOVED that barn. It was high-living on the trail.

Looks like 3195 Barnard Rd. Woodstock might be a reasonable guess from google earth.

I hung my hammock in it. And being a carpenter I felt at home.

Thanks. With that partial info and a Google search I think I have a good address. It appears his name is Dan and not Don too.

I do not appreciate the fraudulent quote. I had not intent to post his address and had asked for a PM. His address and name are on the internet for anyone to see.

I stayed in the Barn at the end of a section hike last summer and it is a great place. Dan is a wonderful friend to the AT hikers. Its easily one of the coolest places I've slept on the trail.
