I figured this probably belongs in the humor section :-) anyone know how his Yo Yo is coming along? He should be about 3 months into it by now I'm guessing.

Hey RCBear... I think he was mentioned in another thread not too long ago. He had some kind of injury so he had to get off the trail... I don't remember the details at all.
Thanks HM. I had posted the question on his FB and was just told the same. He's a character for sure!

He slipped and fell on the ice after 30+ miles and hurt his back so he had to temporarily leave the trail to recuperate. I believe he plans to restart next week, but that depends on his back.
Thanks MP. Curiosity got the best of me, I'm ashamed to admit :/

he just posted something in the group discussion yesterday.looking to get back on trail within the next 2 weeks.
He posted on Facebook on Jan 21 (4 days ago), "Dakota Joe getting better, I can walk for like ten minutes with no pain today"
Walking (not hiking on uneven terrain with a pack) for ten minutes (before needing to stop) after a back injury a few weeks ago puts him at minimum several months, not weeks, out. Been there, done that, three times. IMO, he's setting himself up for re-injury if he goes back too soon.
He of course has set himself up for injury and failure from the get go, but I have to admit that just like the occasional peek at The Inquirer, I just gotta know

Would he be restarting from Springer, or where he left the trail?
Purists, want to know.
Some would argue its no longer a thru hike if you leave the trail and go home for a month.
Some might.
He didnt get off trail in a trail town for a couple days, he went home for a month or more.
After all, triple yo-yo crown bragging rights are at stake here.
To be denied for 30 miles, would be a pity.
Well, since ALDHA-West is the only organization that recognizes the accomplishment of a triple crown, it stands to reason they would likely be the only one that would recognize the accomplishment of a Triple Yo-Yo Crown.
Maybe its a question best put to them to answer?
I get the feeling that if he gets back on, tones the self promotion down a bit and puts 500 tough miles under his feet, he may grow some and I think we would all enjoy that transformation. It'd be cool to see it happen

Man what a mess. I really have no feelings, positive or negative, about the guy since I don't know him... But boy does he make a great poster child for WB record attempt announcements. On one hand he pretty much did what the naysayers expected and yet on the other hand he is making his attempt with some gusto nonetheless.
Where's that Crybaby Media guy? (No inference about the production company's title intended.)

Its at stake.
Seriously though, its great hes learning. Hope he can stay healthy and enjoy his hiking.
If someone sees him, please ask him to quit tagging every sign he passes . He did on his hike last year before he was arrested in Georgia .
