When a hiker going uphill encounters a hiker going downhill, the hiker going downhill yields to the hiker going uphill.

When a trail runner going uphill encounters a trail runner going downhill, the runner going uphill yields to the runner going downhill.

When a trail runner going uphill encounters a hiker going downhill, they yield to each other and just stand there looking like idiots.

When a trail runner going downhill encounters a hiker going uphill, neither yield. They collide, limp home, and whine on their respective Internet discussion fora about how rude the other population of trail users are.

When one comes to a fork on the trail, it mean you are on the Springer approach trail and someone tossed out of their pack to cut wait.

Undo you pack straps in water higher than your ankles. Rolls
Rolls down the hill, Kanardly hike up the other hill
May all your hikes have clear skies, fair winds and no rocks under your pad.

How about - Everything weighs 1/3 more than advertised and packs down to 130% of the advertised volume.

Don't camp within 100 feet of a lake or stream, unless you are having your picture taken for a backpacking magazine or gear catalog.
