shower on the jmt
Other than Red Meadow's, is there another place to get a shower?

There are several waterfalls and cascades. There are hot springs right across the river from Muir Trail Ranch.
Although the hot springs may leave you grimier than you went in.
If you go to Vermillion Valley Ranch, they have a shower.
If you leave the JMT to resupply you'll find showers as you'll be in civilization; say over Kearsarge Pass into Independence. The Muir Trail Ranch, near the trail does have hot springs nearby. If you plan on staying on the JMT and only resupplying at points on the trail, then the answer is no; Red's Meadow is your only option outside of Yosemite. If you are going NOBO, once you arrive in Yosemite Valley, there are public showers (on a paid basis) available to clean up before returning to civilization. Going SOBO, other then stopping in Lone Pine after you finish, your out of luck.

Yosemite valley (curry village or housekeeping camp), Reds Meadow, VVR, MTR only for guests. That's about it. I read that the NPS plan for Tuolumne includes a shower house at Tuolumne Lodge which is something non guests used to have access to but that's probably years away...

Red's Meadows & VVR are your choices. Toulumne Meadows Lodge has one for guests only. So do Muir Trail Ranch.
On my JMT thru-hike, I had one shower (Red's Meadows) in 17 days. I was able to do a daily sponge bath to keep the stench down somewhat. I also washed out my clothes a few times. tunately, the humidity is low & stuff actually will dry out (unlike the AT).
Fill your bear can with water, wash up with bio degradeable soap well away from trail or water sources, pour water on head when done.

That's what I've always wondered as well about using the canister for this purpose.

Rather than use your bear canister, just bring a light bucket like the Sea to Summit http://www.seatosummit.com/products/display/72 or can make a DIY bucket from silnylon that's even lighter.
