God himself won't be able to help this guy. averaging 54 miles day six days a week for four months? I don't know if he will be supported, the article didn't say. but the daily grind will wear his body down.. he'll end up injured on a mountain side somewhere. Why oh why do people keep trying these stunts? he can do all the training he wants on roads.. that's nothing compared to the trail over rough terrain. And how about when it rains for 2-3 days straight? I'll eat a bowl of spinach if he succeeds at this. It's so ridiculous, it's almost sad.

I wish him the best. He has set a tough goal for himself.

What would be interesting if he were on schedule to set the record except he would have to run the last Sunday to break the record.

I wish people would not do these things on the AT. I wish it would remain a hiking trail and not be used for records and fundraising and stunts. I am a certified curmudgeon I know.

The whole thing may be perfectly legit, but I find the following interesting:

The website says donations will be funneled thru the 401c3 "Project H2O" which was founded and is presided over by non other than the film maker - Ryan Simmons.

In further checking, I can't find any mention of "Project H2O" in the IRS databases.

More checking, the website domain they list on their facebook page "projecth2o.com" is for sale.

I don't give this attempt much chance to succeed, but these attempts give us something to follow at least. Even if for only a few days...

In my mind, that is a bad way to start. You have to think (know) that you can do it. And will.

    Good luck.

There are people who try and fail and there are people who talk about people who try and fail. I'd rather be a tryer than a talker.

Not slamming anyone - just saying.

Hope he doesn't expect all the people on the trail to move out of the way for his "god given" attempt as he is no more important than the next person on the trail.

I totally get what you're saying and don't disagree.

Sometimes, success comes out of failing enough times to figure something out - maybe he'll keep trying until it gets it right. Probably not, but you never know.

What? You're not all going to pitch in to help him raise money to live off for the next couple of years?
