    Default Big Creek Ranger Station

How far of a road walk is it from the AT below Davenport Gap to the Big Creek Ranger Station? Also, how near does the Chestnut Branch Trail come to the Station? Just planning a place to leave a vehicle. Thanks!

the ranger station is about a mile from the AT, .25 miles from the powered plant. There is a parking area at the station/house and also and campground at the end of big cove rd. I did a long loop day hike there last fall, no ranger in house at that time. there were maps at the parking area

The road walk is terrible if you walk the road that is there right out of park. its the longest mile ive ever walked. I have done it twice and hitched a ride down the third time. The chestnut branch trail is a much better route with a nice creek and comes out 20yds from parking lot.
