    Default Poncho tarps

Any opinions on sea to summit poncho tarps? Looking to save lots of weight. Also what is the best way to include a bug net?

Have you looked at the Gatewood cape and Serenity net tent by Six Moon Designs?

One option is poncho tarp with lightweight bivy w/ net top. Check out this combo @ mountainlaureldesigns

By the time you add a bug bivy, your not saving much of any weight and have a poor subsitute for a tent. I spent a fair amount of money learning that lesson.

You have a point Slo. What attracts me is the idea of doing away with the weight of raingear. I have tarped before using a Ray-Way tarp back when Golite sold them. I liked it in general but I was still carrying a SilNylon poncho as I did not feel it was big enough to provide the protection needed if used as a tarp. Maybe this design might work. I would like to think I could get over to trail days to see if SMD has one for show purposes but alas, I almost always work Friday and Saturday...sigh.
