    Default old school canvas backpack

I just got a canvas backpack from Duluth trading company and was wondering if anyone else like to use an old style canvas backpack.

I had a Maxpedition Vulture II that I really liked as a day pack, but then tried a 3-day loadout (~ 25#) test hike with it for about 9 miles. Felt like Spock was giving me the Vulcan nerve pinch by about mile 6. It depends on the weight and way you load your pack, of course, but I've since replaced it with an REI Lookout 40 and I've been much happier. The hip belt and suspension system made a huge difference to me.

That said, UL backpacks often have minimal-to-no suspension (or use a reduced sleep pad for a stiffener) - so it can be done with the right load.

BTW - Duluth makes excellent stuff.
