Default disposable water resistant shoe covers for camp shoes

disposable water resistant shoe covers for camp shoes work for me... because:

    they weigh grams not ounces
I only hike for a maximum of a week and they will last that long easily
    cheap
I can put them on over my trail runners when I want to take a break in my hammock and I am too lazy to take my shoes off (this seems to happen to me a lot)
I can put them on over socks or bare feet for my nightly 5 foot pee runs
they compress to about the size of my headlamp

I know. lunatic fringe, perhaps, but for my very limited camp shoe needs, perfect. ( ULine Shoe Covers...)

    anybody else use 'em?

Where do you obtain such camp shoe covers?

Edit: I re-read 1azarus' post and now see the reference to ULine Shoe Covers. Doh!

1azarus! wow - you are winning! I wear them all the time with my BB Inspections! I had no idea they were waterproof! Of course they are Tyvek! never gave it a moment's notice...

Added to my kit - Huge!
Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

...blushing, here. first time somebody thought I had a good idea... just when I was going to give up!

I do wonder what it would take for someone like our Packa buddy to make these out of cuben. I know -- way more expensive, but would they be more durable?

I see several different ones listed. Which do you use? and what if I don't need a case of 250?

What about those low cut rubber shoe covers? much heavier than Tyvek but much more durable. But should be lighter than crocs. ??

I've used these for years (the Tyvek ones) and they work fine on level ground but beware, they're no good on wet sloping terrain, they do make great night water shoes!

I have some tyvek booties too. They worked ok, but I am still using my cuben moccasins I made for myself long ago. I like being able to put my moccasins over my down booties. Keeps them dry and protects the bottom. I don't think the cuben moccasins are really a viable product, so I'm not making or selling them. But, they do work for me. A cuben bootie like the tyvek shoe covers would not be worth it cost wise, and the tyvek would probably hold up better too.

I'm planning on using them on a thruhike this year - rather than carrying separate camp shoes, I'm going to try wearing my trail runners in camp. If they are soaking wet, I'll put on a dry pair of socks, and wear the waterproof shoe cover between my dry socks + wet shoes. Hopefully they'll last pretty well since I won't be going far, or walking on the ground with them.

    Weight 5g / 0.2oz for a pair.

The guys in my bowling league put these over their bowling shoes when they step outside to smoke a butt. What can I say, I straddle two different worlds.

Very similiar to surgical shoe covers which I can get from my work five days a week.
Great idea by someone thinking outside the box. Definitely not me , duh !
I'm going to have to try the orthopedic shoe covers with the reenforced slip resistant sole as an experiment.

I have been looking over waterproof shoe covers at eBay.

I will have a look at the ULine Shoe Covers. Thank you.

I made a pair of of cuben and they didn't last 100miles while hiking. Could work hanging around but PE coated nylon is much more durable at little sacrifice of weight. That is what I have been using for the last couple years.
