First-timer on PCT, starting at southern terminus at Thanksgiving, any advice please?
"Beans" here, section hiker. Middle 450 miles on Florida Trail, southern 350 on A.T. (approach to Erwin, TN.)
Mexican border and heading "trail" north. What is the weather like? (I realize this is late, but I will probably only go less than 200 miles
I understand that the ups& downs aren't as bad as the A.T. Can anyone please confirm this?
I would SINCERELY appreciate any information and advice... I hike alone, but I have young children, and don't want to risk my life.
Thank you very, very much!

At Thanksgiving? Not too hot. There ups and downs when you get to the southern most mountains. Not sure how far they are from the border.
What about caches? You may have to stash water along the way.
Good luck.

You're welcome.
I do think that water may be the biggest problem. The springtime Trail Angels may not be putting out water late in the year.

It might rain, but I wouldn't expect it to get the creeks running again yet. There are a couple tough spots, but you can probably get by if you yogi some water at a couple road crossings, or hitch to town.
