I wish that stupid video would stop making the rounds. It's been debunked many times. The packaged ramen was clearly swallowed WHOLE, skipping the first step in digestion, which is CHEWING. Were the subjects told to not chew? And was that the same condition starting digestion of the homemade ramen? Secondly, the digestion was not of the two types of noodles ONLY. The packaged ramen was taken with Gatorade, adding a chemically-alkaline liquid on top of soup which neutralizes part of the stomach acid. The other meal added liquid but it was the mildly-acidic hibiscus tea.

Whoever did that bogus "study" stacked the deck in favor of how they wanted it to come out. Complete and utter bull*****.

I think as long as it wasn't chased with a snickers bar, I'm OK.

What about the Thai noodles that are more of a rice base?

Simple tip: don't use the soup/sauce packet or limit to just half. You can use whatever spices/seasoning you're carrying instead as a healthier alternative, and hydrate!

I was just about to mention rice noodles that "cook" by pouring boiling water over them and letting them sit 5 minutes. Sounds like FBC only faster. Gluten free too.
Anyone who eats Ramen hasn't spent much time exploring a supermarket.

And who could forget "Libby's Potter Meat Food Product"

It is one of the few processed foods I've tried that I think hikers would decline.

It's all good in moderation, moderation being the key. I did a year in Korea and ate a s&*% ton of ramen and fried egg, ran 8 miles a day, humped hills, dug holes and survived. A few days of cooked ramen is not going to kill you, if the sodium content is a concern use half a packet or delete it all together. We all do things on a daily basis that is potentially harmful to us, if its our thing we still do it. We get into cars and drive 60 and 70 miles per hour, passing hundreds if not thousands of people a day, not knowing their mental capacity, if they are under the influence or what ever, all for convenience and speed. Science and factual evidence has proven that regardless of what you eat this can kill you, we still do it.

I usually crunch them up, dump them and vacuum seal it to take with me, less space and leaves room for a can of spam.
